Eid Mubarak
Wish you all a very happy Eid. Its said that moon is not easily visible today so hope you all get to see it and wish for whatever you want :) I was leafing through Hyderabad Times or something in which there was a huge family photograph of Salman Khan which captured my attention. Its such a huge family and so diverse in religions with really no botheration to which caste or creed a person belongs to. Wish all of us enjoyed that secularism!

Happy Janmashtami!!
So, today is Krishnaji's birthday and its supposed to be a loong weekend for us but in Hyd, none of the companies are interested in celebrating the divine God's birthday so we are all toiling in the AC's!!
I don't really celebrate this festival but then any festival is supposed to be a holiday, no?? So, what are you guys doing today?? Plans to temples or ISKCON. I had been once to ISKCON Hyderabad.
I think there are two or more temples but I have been only to one and the decoration was awesome even though the temple wasn't very huge!! Wish you all a very Happy Janmashtami :)

Happy Rakhi!!
Wish you a very very happy Rakhi :) All sisters, have fun and empty the pockets of your brothers with incessant demands. I already asked my dad a lot of money for this weekend's shopping...yay!! Oh, if you are wondering why dad?, I am an only child and the most un-pampered of the only children :( But, somehow dad felt pretty generous this year and even mom fell with his wishes :D So, I am just planning what to do with that much of money. Guess, should take advantage of the ongoing sales, right??

Happy Ugadi!!!
Today is Ugadi, the New Year for all Andhrites :) Wish you all a very Happy Ugadi and hope this year is prosperous and fun-filled for you and all your loved ones.And, enjoy the sweet and sour and bitter taste of Ugadi pacchadi (special chutney made on Ugadi) and life.
Today's special dish is Ugadi pacchadi. It is a special chutney which has I don't know how many ingredients and it embodies all the tastes - sweet, sour, bitter, salty, hot and some more which I am not completely sure of. The significance of this pacchadi is that it symbolizes the tastes of life which comes in all forms at various stages - sometimes it is happy, sometimes sad, sometimes challenging, sometimes hopeful and sometimes drastic like there is no tomorrow. As we enjoy the taste of this pacchadi, we should learn to enjoy all the flavors of life and live in the today. So, have a great year ahead!!!

Wish you all a very Happy Pongal.
Fun Fact: If you don't know, Pongal is also the name of a dish which is prepared today. It is prepared with rice and is generally bland and not spicy. The funny thing is that I used to hate this dish till a two to three years back and now, I am not definitely in love with it but it tastes really good if I put a whole lot of pure ghee. So, if you have not had this dish, you should definitely try it out.

What will I do on Karvachauth? {Guest Post}

Karvachauth, traditionally we celebrate this day for our husband’s long life.
My belief for Karvachauth is not against traditional values but, I believe in more realistic approach. I would like to celebrate Karvachuath for my married life and pray to God that love between me and my husband go stronger each day and we lead a happy married life together.
I believe in prayers and festivals. Karvachauth is a festive day and since, it is for the married life, I wish to have husband and wife fasting for their common pray to God.
Although, I am a new birdie in this world of karvachauth, yet I have my plans jotted down well in advance for this day. With heena on my hands, bangles in my wrists, with beautiful ethnic wear, I will bring in Karvachauth at the dawn of 15th Oct. We will do Sargi (ritual) where we will have milky feni and drink water like camel so that we don’t feel thirsty through out the day. I would love to go out for movie to kill my time however, if it is not possible, I will stay put at home watching television with mi husband.
Sun would set with a thali pooja, although I am not a very big fan of this pooja, but since it is a ritual, as long as it is possible I would do it. With the rise of moon and a set of ritual, I will break my fast followed by a luxurious dinner at some good restaurant.
