Elimination diet tips
Avoiding constipation
The most important aspect of this detoxing diet is to ensure that you maintain regular bowel movements. This is the single most relevant way for the body to eliminate any toxic substances. It’s essential to avoid any prolonged periods with faeces sitting in your intestine, as this will lead to toxins being re-absorbed. Regular bowel movements also contribute to a better sense of well-being and higher energy levels. Some patients have reported no problems with this diet, but due to radical diet changes, constipation is a common complaint. If you’re one of the unlucky ones, there are many ways to relieve your condition:
- Drink plenty of fluids - Increased consumption of water will hydrate your stools and make elimination easier.
- Try colon hydrotherapy – excellent method of eliminating unwanted toxins. You can have up to one daily.
- Castor oil – Natural but effective product. Carefully read the label and follow instructions.
- Laxatives: If you opt for the herbal type, they are safe and non-irritating. These products stimulate contractions in the intestines pushing faeces down, gently encouraging bowel movements. They are widely available in supermarkets and health stores.
